This is who we are!

Pretech Corporation was founded in 1993 by Bill Bundschuh, his father Bill, his two brothers Bob and Mike Bundschuh, and father-in-law, Maurice Marble. The Bundschuhs pride themselves on being a locally owned, family run business geared to partner with stakeholders in the construction industry.

Humble Beginnings

In 1993 Pretech was located in Stilwell, Ks on a humble 1.25 acre lot (including the building).  During the early years Pretech focused efforts on Sanitary/Storm Manholes and Inlets for primarily Private developments in southern Johnson County.  In the fall of ’95 Bill moved the show to Kansas City, KS to the current location at 435 and Woodend Road.

Time to grow up….fast!

As Pretech became more of a contributor to the Precast infrastructure in such a rapidly growing region, Bill’s focus quickly became providing quality Precast products, true to specification, on time, at a fair price.  In 2002 Pretech became a NPCA Certified Plant (National Precast Concrete Association), on multiple occasions Pretech was named a top 25 plant nationally.  Bill has since served as a committee member for Concrete Pipe and Quality Assurance for NPCA.  Pretech was also recognized by the Kansas City Star, The Business Journal and other industry publications for outstanding growth, quality, and most importantly for the way employees were treated like family. With the new focus, it was clear that Pretech was gaining the reputation as the top quality producer in the local market.

"If you build it, they will come..."

In the fall of 2004 Pretech produced its first joint of Reinforced Concrete Pipe (RCP).  In response to encouragement from local construction companies, Pretech answered the call to add a Pipe Plant to its Kansas City operations. Pretech added the most automated drycast pipe machine in the industry out of Austria.  The reinforcing is manufactured on-site with a computer controlled welder.  Bringing on the pipe plant meant purchasing an additional 10 acres, and renovating a 22,500 sqft. building.  Bill had ambitions plans for Pretech to compete with other local pipe plants owned by national and international companies already entrenched in the local market.  The Pipe Plant allowed Pretech to be a more complete provider for storm and sanitary projects.  Many local contractors rallied behind Pretech’s efforts to make the 5 Million dollar investment a huge success….and for that we thank you!

The success of the pipe plant drove revenues up and allowed Pretech to grow its workforce to 50 employees.  The growth also brought on the development of specialty products, box culverts, and electrical boxes.

The Pretech Family Today!

With the ever changing specifications and design criteria in construction plans today, it is important that Pretech staffs employees that are dedicated not only to their trade, but to listening to customers with ears that want to get it right the first time!  Pretech’s Sales and Engineering department has over 150 years of combined construction experience, with over 100 years of specific experience in Civil Engineering and design.  We have the experience to help you with an alternate design, or even design a solution from scratch.  Pretech’s focus is in providing quality Precast products, true to specification, on time, at a fair price. We pride ourselves on being a locally owned, family run business geared to partner with stakeholders in the construction industry.

Let’s partner up on your next project!
